Method Hockey
Method Hockey is owned and operated by Chris Fuss. Since 2005, Chris has been a full time player development coach, hockey association consultant, and coach mentor. Chris lives in Okotoks, AB. with his wife Carolyn and their two kids, Parker and Maren.
PLAYING HISTORY
Growing up in Saskatchewan, Chris played Midget AAA with the Swift Current Legionnaires before making his way to the La Ronge Ice Wolves and Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL).
After junior hockey, Chris received an NCAA hockey scholarship to Norwich University in Vermont, USA. where he earned a degree in Business Management. During his time there, the Cadets won 4 ECAC-EAST Regular Season titles, 3 ECAC-EAST Playoff titles, made 3 NCAA Frozen Four appearances, and won an NCAA National Championship. In his senior season, Chris served as Team Captain and represented Norwich University as a member of the ECAC-East Student Athlete Leadership Committee.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Chris became a full time development coach in 2005 with the Alberta Hockey Academy in Red Deer, AB. He provided academy based hockey programming for the Chinook's Edge School Division. In 2007, Chris moved to Okotoks, AB. and helped set up Skillz SSC in Calgary, AB. As the VP of Hockey Operations there until 2018, Chris and his staff created and implemented a wide range of individual skill development and position specific programs. These included defensemen camps, goal scoring clinics, and introduction to body contact.
Chris has also worked with Crash Conditioning, Thrive Hockey Development, and the Red Deer Rustlers to provide on-ice skill development sessions for their players. A significant amount of time has been spent working with U15 & U18 elite stream, junior, college, and professional athletes.
COACHING
Chris began coaching in 2006 with the Bantam AAA Red Deer Rebel Chiefs as an assistant coach to Dan MacDonald. The following season, Chris and Dan took over as coaches for the Okotoks Oilers Jr. "A" hockey club of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). During his 2 seasons with Dan, the team set club records for regular season wins, points, and playoff wins.
In his 3rd year with the Oilers, Chris worked closely with Garry VanHereweghe and was elevated to Associate Coach. Chris and Garry led the Oilers to the franchise's first banner by winning the Regular Season South Division Title. In his 4 years with the Oilers, over 40 players received NCAA and CIS scholarships, while 4 players were drafted to the NHL.
Chris has coached community and private hockey annually since 2006 and is currently the lead instructor for the Foothills School Division and Heritage Heights hockey academies.
COACH MENTORSHIP
Chris developed a coach mentorship program and began consulting to minor hockey associations in 2010. Since that time, he has been a coach mentor for over 300 minor hockey teams. He has presented and led workshops at coach development meetings and player development seminars. He also works directly with coaches on season planning, practice layouts, drill design, position specific concepts and tactics, bench management, game play statistics, and player analytics.
He has been contracted by numerous minor hockey associations (Okotoks, Southwest, Blackfoot, Springbank, Knights, Stettler, etc.) to introduce coach mentorship programs, on-ice player development sessions, evaluation processes, and coach selection guidelines.

COACHING STAFF
Greg Krebs
Greg has been actively coaching in the local hockey community since 2004. He coached his sons Dakota (U of C Dinos), Peyton (Buffalo Sabres), and Dru (Medicine Hat Tigers) from initiation through U13 "AA." Since those years over 30 Okotoks area players have pursued hockey at and beyond the Jr. "A" level.
He also coached several successful spring programs with the Havoc '03's, 2000 Fire Hawks, and Alberta 99's. From those teams, nearly 50 players played Jr "A" and above. During the offseason, Krebs runs development programs for U18, Jr., NCAA, and Pro players.
Greg is currently the Head Coach of the Method Hockey U13's.
Mark Mitchell
Mark has coached his son's minor hockey in Okotoks from U7 to U15 AA. During that time he was part of 6 Provincial Zone Championships, 3 League Championships, and 3 League Finals Championship appearances.
In the 2017-18 season, his son advanced to the U18 AAA level with the Airdrie CFR Bisons. Mark then began coaching with the Foothills Bisons Association U15 AA and U18 AA teams. Since those years, numerous players from the Foothills Bisons Association have advanced to U18 AAA, Jr. A., and Collegiate programs.
Mark will be running sessions for Method Hockey and the Hockey Academies this season.
